Feeling a little sluggish? Run down from the week even though it’s only Tuesday? Try my 10 go-to tricks for self-care that’ll be sure to get you feeling a little more positive!

You’ve gotta take a shower. Whether it’s because you actually NEED one or not, I promise it will help you start your day! And maybe giving those ‘pits a little shave doesn’t hurt either 😉
Not only brushing, but flossing and even doing a teeth whitening treatment is a great confidence boost! If you are feeling really extra, you might even want to try ‘pulling oil’ – if you aren’t familiar with what that means, I’ll talk a little bit about that at the bottom of this post.

Did I hear face masks?? I always like to keep a small arsenal of masks handy for these gloomy mental health days. If you are fresh out, I recommend doing your complete skin care routine and adding an oil or serum that you maybe sometimes forget to do daily, or only pull out for “date night” prep. If you are fresh out of all of those, a few sprays of a face mist is just as refreshing and powerful! I LOVE Mario Badescu’s facial spray with aloe, cucumber and green tea.
LIPS- don’t forget to show your lips some extra care. That can be as simple as reminding yourself to apply chapstick throughout the day to keep those babies hydrated OR you can go all out with a scrub! If you don’t have a lip scrub but are excited about creating your own, you can easily make a sugar scrub: 1 tsp honey / 2tsp sugar, leave on for 10 min and wipe off with warm water.
Illuminators/brighteners/and tighteners- If you haven’t invested in hyaluronic acid, I HIGHLY recommend The Ordinary. (Bonus~ they are very easy on the wallet). Every time I put this magic on my face, I am in immediate bliss. I love pairing this with Too Faced’s Maracuja Oil. I look all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed afterwards! lol, no but it really does make my skin feel soft and look more glowy and alive. Which brings me to my next point..
I absolutely require mascara in order to feel like 1) my day has started and 2) I am in fact a human being. Something about this simple application just brings me sheer joy in knowing I can confidently look someone in the eye at the grocery store.
Do the eyebrows, it’s worth it. I used to use an eyebrow pencil, but I have recently discovered tinted eyebrow gel (Anastasia Beverly Hills). For me it is the perfect tool. I really don’t like spending a whole lot of time on makeup, especially not the brows, so this gel has been a lifesaver in speeding up the process. I truly think if you have the mascara and eyebrows done, that’s all it takes to boost your mood tenfold.

Quick session of slow flow yoga or a 10 minute meditation (more if you can!). Hitting that mat, focusing solely on yourself, and giving yourself the ability to let go of all the anxiety-ridden thoughts is just enough to clear the midday brain fog.
Step outside barefoot. This could possibly be the most important tip on the list. If you aren’t familiar with grounding, I highly encourage you to check it out. We all know how powerful Mother Nature is and this one proves itself. If you don’t have time for a walk in the park, this should definitely be on your list (and even better if you can do both)! Put your face to the sun, with your feet on the grass/soil and I promise you will feel rejuvenated and happier.
This might sound super basic but….Coffee! Or whatever your favorite beverage might be. On days when I need a pick-me-up, getting my favorite coffee beverage is single-handedly the most lovely part of my day (pair it with a trip to Home Goods and I am all set!).
~BONUS~
If it has been a particularly rough day -one that I just can’t seem to shake, I opt with a bath followed by Netflix in bed. The comfort of the warm water is like a gentle hug. Add some lavender epsom salt or a few essential oils to make it even more serene. I also love to put on the Spa playlists on Spotify, it really makes me feel like I’m treating myself! Once I’m now fully relaxed and warm, I wrap up in my robe and climb into bed! (If you have a fuzzy blanket, it is 10/10 recommended to cocoon in that first and then throw the rest of the blankets over top). Now the Netflix part is up to your discretion. Sometimes I like to choose feel good movies/series, comedies or my guilty pleasures ….unless I need to cry, then I throw on the sappy movies (which yeah, if you need to cry, you better cry! Get that shit out of your system, you know you’ll feel better).
I hope these tips help you when you are feeling less than perfect. Remember, it is ALWAYS okay to not feel okay, but we don’t have to live that way forever.

*Pulling oil*
This method refers to using coconut oil to pull out toxins that have built up in the body. Essentially you stick about a tablespoon or two in your mouth and swish the coconut oil around for 20 minutes. R e a l l y swish it around and mimic movements of pushing your mouth away from itself, like if you had an airtight seal in your mouth and now you are opening your jaw (without opening your mouth). Wow, that was difficult to explain- a quick google search is probably more beneficial.
What kind of coconut oil is best for pulling oil? Always opt to get cold-pressed and unrefined. It is the most “pure” with no extra additives..basically whether the coconut oil stays solid at room temp or turns to liquid.
